Monday Afternoon

Once again, there's nothing to report. There was a bit more of a game plan put together today. It looks like they will do another LP (lumbar puncture) this week to make sure he still has no sort of infection in his central nervous system. The are also going to ween the nitric down so he can have a brain mri done this week as well. He is still having significant swelling in his head, but his the circumference of his head has not change for the better or worse today. Hopefully they will also be doing the EEG sometime in the next day or so to see if there is any seizure activity, but the mri will be the test that shows if there is any real damage as a result of Saturday. The did do an echo today as the last one was done when his heart rate was pretty high. The most difficult thing so far since Saturday to watch was neurology come in to do a consult and see if they could provide any more answers. Maybe it would have been best to leave the room as Laura did, but I wanted to be there to hear everything he had to say. But seeing him check Daniel's pupils and check reflex and basically see no reaction whatsoever from Daniel was heartbreaking. Of course he relayed the same wait and see message everyone has so far the past couple of days and said nothing could really be told until the swelling went down and an mri was done. Other functions of his body have improved but depending on the extent of damage done to his brain it might not matter that much. Only time will tell and it'll probably be a few days before know anything any different.

Hi Jason & Laura,
We did not have internet access all weekend. I am posting this from Atlanta, just saw the updates; Bernie still cannot get access. Obviously we want to help in any way; hotel room, flights etc. you all are in our thoughts and prayers as always. Bernie left a message. We want to help now and always. Bernie plans to drive tonight to Atlanta and then will come to either Cincinnati or Greenville tomorrow. we love you all and are praying for Daniel.

Dear Jason and Laura,
Uncle Bernie gave me this website address so we can all check on Daniel's progress. I know we haven't spoken in a while, but I just want to let you know that we think of you and pray for you all the time. Austin's CCD class all prayed for you and Daniel in the spring. I can't imagine how hard it has been for all of you the last 9 months. You are both wonderful parents to all of your children and we admire you for everything you have done for them. I wish we lived closer so we could be able to help you out. I loved seeing all of the pictures of everyone. Daniel is a beautiful baby and the kids are adorable. You can see how much they love their brother. We will continue to think of you everyday. We are happy that we can see his progress. My parents do not have the internet, so I relay all the information on to them. Stay strong and give Daniel a kiss for us!
